The beginning

The beginning

It's amazing what unfolds when you finally let yourself do the thing your heart has been whispering about for years. For the longest time, I called Sun Rae my imagined life. A beautiful dream I kept tucked away. It felt like a secret part of me, something I longed for but didn’t believe I could pursue.

Then came 2023. We moved to India. I became a mother. And in birthing my son, I somehow gave birth to a new version of myself too. One that wanted to live more honestly, where my inner world could finally meet the outer one.

Sun Rae is that meeting place. A quiet dream, now fully awake.

If you know me, you know I’ve always had my hands in something. Whether it’s filmmaking, painting, shaping ideas into form, creativity has long been my love language, my way of expressing connection and joy to the world around me.

As a child, I loved to adorn myself with beautiful jewelry I either found or was given. Each piece always carried a story. A scarab necklace from an Egyptian temple, a locket gifted to me by my family in Serbia, engraved with their home address. Jewelry was never just an accessory; it was a memory, a marker of time, a symbol of where I had been and who I had become.

As a documentarian, I traveled the world collecting human stories. But the part I looked forward to most? The markets. I’d land in a new country and go straight to the souks. To me, that’s where the spirit of a place lives, in the hands of local artisans, in their tools, their stories, their patience. I was always drawn to the craftsmanship, the heritage, the quiet beauty of things made slowly and with care.

Sun Rae was born from that same desire. To create jewelry that is more than an accessory, but a tangible connection to culture, craft, and one's unfolding story.

Each Sun Rae piece is designed with intention, crafted to be worn as personal talismans, reminders of where you've been, who you are, and the stories you carry with you.

Everything has a journey. Thank you for letting me be a part of yours.
